Keeping Our Promises

Most people have probably heard the Torah commands that we should keep all the promises or oaths that we make, even to our own hurt, because God expects that of us - that is the point of an oath.

The same Scriptures that support the mitzvah of keeping oaths are the same ones that are cited by the classical commentators, Maimonides, Meir, and HaChinuch, to support their broader interpretation of this mitzvah, that we must keep all promises.

But does the same stringency apply to believers in Yeshua today? Are our words to be taken seriously and what does this mean?

Dr Juster and I also debate whether the rules covering promises or oaths made by minors and women still apply in a Yeshua-believing context.
